1924 ~ 2010
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the age of 86. After immigrating with their four boys from Malmo, Sweden for the LDS church Esther and Frans Sorenson were blessed with twins, June and George. June grew up in Salt Lake City doted on by her parents and five brothers, Nephi, Oscar, Doug, Hugo, and George. When her neighbor and childhood sweetheart Thomas Melroy Morley enlisted for World War II June went to work at Remington Arms to do her part during the war while she waited for Mel to return. Married June 11, 1948 June and Mel had two daughters Estie and Lisa. June was a strong woman and dedicated mother who kept the home going while Mel continued his service to our country through both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
An incredible baker June always delighted friends and family with her extraordinary baking, a skill she taught her daughters and grandchildren. She had a deep love for her family and her Swedish heritage. A lover of games and family time Junes later years were filled with family and friends.
June is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Melroy. June is survived by daughters Estie (David) and Lisa, grandchildren Jennifer (Jeff), Jaclyn, Doug, John (Heather) and great-grandchild Alexander.
Services will be held Wednesday August 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah).
