GUADALAJARA, Mexico — The defending champion United States routed another opponent in women's water polo Tuesday at the Pan American Games.

The Americans, who have won two of the three titles in the sport at the games, beat Cuba 19-3 to clinch first place in Group B and set up a semifinal game against Brazil.

Ivan Cambar of Cuba won the first gold on Day 11 of the Pan American Games, taking the men's 77-kilogram weightlifting title.

Other events include track and field, women's basketball and baseball.
