New York Voices, a four-person jazz vocal group, will grace the stage at the Capitol Theatre on Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Jazz SLC concert series.

Formed in 1987, New York Voices is a Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble most often compared to Manhattan Transfer, Singers Unlimited, and Lamberts, Hendricks and Ross. The singers are equally comfortable in the world of jazz, bebop, rhythm and blues, and pop culture classics.

The group is made up of Kim Nazarian, Peter Eldridge, Darmon Meader and Lauren Kinhan. Accompanying New York Voices will be its own trio of musicians.

Every member wears multiple musical hats. The group stays invigorated and crisp by pursuing their own variety of musical interests.

Nazarian, one of the original founders, has found success as an ensemble vocalist and has worked with Ray Brown, Stanley Turrentine and Bobby McFerrin.

Eldrige teaches maser classes in New York City when he's not composing, writing, directing his choir or on the road in crossover performances.

Meader's escape from the rigors of life as a professional musician includes skiing, river running and camping.

Kinhan is involved in the education and promotion of jazz and has been on the board of governors for the Recording Academy and the committee for the advancement of jazz education.
