RICHMOND, Va. — G. Paul Nardo has been sworn in as the 21st clerk of the Virginia House of Delegates.
The 45-year-old Nardo, who has been the top aide to House Speaker Bill Howell, was elected on an 88-0 vote and took his oath of office Thursday from Virginia Chief Justice Cynthia Kinser to rousing bipartisan applause.
Nardo succeeds the late Bruce Jamerson, who had been House Clerk for 20 years. Jamerson died in April of a self-inflicted gunshot wound that authorities ruled was suicide.
