After a well-played nine innings in the game of life, Dale D Bain, 78, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2011.Dale was born September 12, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Louis H. Bain and Jennie Elvira Dyches Bain, who doted on him as their only child. Their love and support were reciprocated by Dale as a loving and attentive son who had his father's athletic prowess and competitive spirit. He attended South High School in Salt Lake City, where he was senior class vice-president, played baseball, and as co-captain won the Utah State baseball championship in 1950 with teammates with whom he shared a life-long love of baseball. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and served in the early 191st Fighter Bomber Squadron stationed in New Mexico. With a baseball scholarship at the University of Utah, he graduated in Pharmacy in 1957 and received the Scholarship Trophy. Thoughout his life he enjoyed competitive baseball and softball and was inducted into the inaugural class of the Utah Softball Hall of Fame. He married his sweetheart Lois Hunter on November 27, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on August 31, 1978. His marriage to Lois was blessed by five children, Rob, Janet (Hal) Reiser, Donnie, Mark, and Kari. Dale was a creative and resourceful pharmacy entrepreneur and a successful businessman. From Hyland Pharmacy to his own pharmacies, Bain Pharmacy, Key Rexall in Sandy and Coalville, he served thousands of customers with insightful intelligence and tireless compassion. He opened one of the first pharmacies in Sandy, Utah. His children grew up working with him at the pharmacy where with his unrivaled work ethic and energy, Dale lovingly taught loyalty, diligence, craftsmanship, and compassion. He never said no to a family member or friend who needed his help or support. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as an enthusiastic ward missionary, high-priest, and served with his wife Lois as a choir member and inner-city missionary in the Thai-Laotian Branch. He was is survived by his spouse of 56 years, Lois, his children Rob, Janet (Hal) Reiser, Mark and Kari, nine grandchildren and five great-grand-children; Donnie and a half-brother Louie preceded him in death. Memorial services will be held on July 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Cottonwood 5th Ward, 6350 South Rodeo Lane (1500 East). Friends may call at the Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd), Cottonwood Heights, Utah on July 6, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and an hour prior to the services at the chapel.
