Norman K. "Woody" Woodhouse1935 ~ 2012Ivins, UTNorman K. "Woody" Woodhouse, passed away at age 77 in his home in Ivins, Utah on December 14th, 2012. He was born on Aug 18th, 1935 in Provo, Utah to Meda Butler Miller and Ervin Woodhouse. He was married to his sweetheart, Doris Jex Woodhouse on March 15th, 1957 in the Manti Temple.Woody and Doris began their family Utah county and raised their 11 children in Springville, Vernal and Orem areas. They also had the privilege of raising and mentoring over 100 foster children throughout their married life. Woody was very active in the LDS church where he served in various callings including Bishop and councilor in the Stake Presidency.Woody had a tremendous capacity to love others and make them feel important. He had unconditional love and charity for others that showed by his actions. He refused to shake hands, to him it was always a unconditional hug. Those that knew him, knew this and welcomed these hugs.He truly enjoyed being with his family and included them in his hobbies. Some of his hobbies included softball, basketball, football and during his younger years spent many days camping and river rafting with his family enjoying nature. He truly enjoyed being with his family. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father as well as by his Brother Orlin Kent Woodhouse, Brother David Neil Miller and Sister in Law Mary Woodhouse.He is survived by his precious wife Doris and siblings Colleen Woodhouse (Martinez, CA), Carolyn (Leon) Larsen (Springville, UT), Joann Miller (Salt Lake City), Keith Mac Woodhouse (Oklahoma City), Kim (Curtis) Otterson (Springville), Brad (Kristy) Woodhouse (Salem), as well as loving children: Daughter Carrie Lynn (Howard) Merrell, Son Norman Scott Woodhouse, Son Morgan Thomas (Natalie) Woodhouse, Son Kyle Wayne (Jackie) Woodhouse, Son Michael Allen (Bonnie) Woodhouse, Son Steven James (Dedra) Woodhouse, Daughter Emily Calene (Gilbert) Ekker, Son Charles William (Gina) Woodhouse, Daughter Elycse Diane (Ryan) Allphin, Daughter Melissa (Brad) Swan, Son Jared Jex (Julie) Woodhouse and 54 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ivins LDS Stake Center, 260 East 1060 South, Ivins, UT. Visitations will be held on Monday, December 17, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, UT and on Tuesday, from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. A second Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cascade LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 481 East Center Street, in Orem, UT. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery.
