SEATTLE — Seattle police have arrested at least a half dozen people as May Day demonstrations turned violent.

Officers and protesters tangled Tuesday evening, following earlier incidents where storefronts were smashed, tires slashed and car windows broken in downtown Seattle.

Police say they recovered homemade incendiary devices made out of toilet paper rolls and fruit juice boxes. Large crowds disrupted the evening commute through downtown Seattle.
