LONDON — Breeja Larson has another shot at the medal podium.

Larson, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, swam in the 4x100-meter medley relay Friday and the team from the United States is one of eight teams scheduled to compete in Saturday's final.

Larson, of Mesa, Ariz., swam the second leg of the relay with Rachel Bootsma, Claire Donahue and Jessica Hardy.

Larson came in 6th in the 100-meter breaststroke earlier this week.

Other updates on Mormons competing in the 2012 Olympic Games in London:

Swimming: New Zealand's Hayley Palmer and Celeste Brown, representing the Cook Islands, both swam in the women's 50-meter freestyle preliminary heats on Friday. Overall, Palmer was 23rd of 74 women and Brown was 54th. Neither advanced to the finals.

Brown's 18th birthday is Saturday.

Track and Field: Two LDS teenagers ran in the women's 100-meter sprint Friday, but neither advanced to the quarterfinals.

Patricia Taea, 18, of the Cook Islands, had a season best time of 12.47 seconds and Kainguae David, 17, of the island nation of Kiribati, had a personal best time of 13.61 seconds.

Soccer: The Brazil women's team lost 2-0 to Japan on Friday. Japan, which is the 2011 World champions, will play France in the semifinal.

Mormon Bruna Beatriz Benites Soares played the entire 90-minute game.

Water polo: The USA women's team beat China on Friday and overall has two wins and a tie in the preliminary round and is one of the top two teams in their group. The elimination bracket competition starts Sunday.

The team includes backup goalkeeper Tumua Anae.

Competing this weekend

Beach volleyball tandem Jake Gibb, who is LDS, and Sean Rosenthal will play a Russian duo on Saturday in the first elimination round. The USA men's volleyball team faces Russia on Saturday.

Also, Becky Holliday competes in the women's pole vault qualification round on Saturday.

KIRIBATI

Track and Field: Kainguae David, 17, of Teaoraereke 2nd Ward, Tarawa Kiribati West Stake, sprinted to a personal best time of 13.61 seconds in the 100-meter Friday. Also, Nooa Takooa, 19, of the Moroni Ward, Tarawa Kiribati East Stake, is scheduled to run in the men's 100-meter sprint today.

Kiribati is south of Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean.
