Mary J. Soffe1915 ~ 2013Mary Jenkins Soffe, 97, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, in Salt Lake City. She was born August 6, 1915 in Midvale, Utah, to Annetta Pearl Williams & George W. Jenkins. Married Vaughn C. Soffe in Murray, Utah; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Graduated from Murray High School and attended Utah State University. Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various organizations and callings. She was the President of Murray Ladies Civic Guild. She lived an active life enjoying crafts, crocheting, golf, traveling with her husband to many places in the world. When Vaughn retired, they were "snowbirds" and resided in St. George, where they had many loving friends. Mary and Vaughn served three church missions, which included San Diego and Jamaica.Survived by her daughter, Carol Ann (Tom) Bartlett; son, Gregg (Kathy) Soffe; daughter-in-law, LaRose Soffe; 17 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn; sons, Jaren and Jon Arvil; 9 brothers and sisters.Funeral services will be Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 12 Noon at the Murray 3rd Ward, 160 E. Brown Street (4600 South). Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, and Saturday at the church from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment: Murray City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Sharon Williams for her love, kindness and patience given to Mary during the last two years.
