Utah author Brandon Sanderson picked up two Hugo Awards on Sept. 1 at LoneStarCon 3, the 71st World Science Fiction Convention in San Antonio.
One was in the Best Novella category for “Emperor’s Soul” and the second in the Best Related Work category for the “Writing Excuses Second Seven” podcast online at www.writingexcuses.com on which he collaborates with authors Dan Wells and Mary Robinette Kowal, cartoonist Howard Tayler and Jordan Sanderson.
The prestigious Hugo Awards have been presented annually since 1955 and are managed and voted on by members of the World Science Fiction Convention, says www.thehugoawards.org. There were 1,848 ballots that counted for the final ballot.
Sanderson is the author of several science fiction books and series, including the Mistborn series, and completing the Wheel of Time series. His latest, “Steelheart,” is scheduled to be released on Sept. 24.
