SALT LAKE CITY — Gov. Gary Herbert has appointed Laura S. Scott and L. Douglas Hogan as judges to fill vacancies on the 3rd District Court.

Scott is a shareholder, member of the board of directors and vice president at Parsons Behle & Latimer. She has also served as an assistant general counsel to the University of Utah Office of General Counsel.

Hogan has been the elected county attorney for Tooele County since 2007. Prior to his service with Tooele County, he worked in private practice in the law office of L. Douglas P.C. and as in-house counsel to S.K. Hart Management.

Scott will fill the vacancy that will result from the retirement of Judge John Paul Kennedy on Dec. 31. Hogan will fill the vacancy that will result from the retirement of Judge L.A. Dever on Nov. 1.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate. The 3rd District Court serves Salt Lake, Tooele and Summit counties.
