SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake reacquired the former MLS Defender of the Year Jamison Olave from the New York Red Bulls for allocation money. Citing league and club policy, the amount of money trading hands will not be disclosed.

Olave played five seasons with Real Salt Lake, from 2008-2012. The 33-year-old Medellin, Columbia, native earned defender of the year honors in 2010. In addition, he was an MLS All-Star in 2010 and 2011.

With Olave anchoring the back line, Real Salt Lake made the postseason in all of his five seasons with the team, including 13 playoff matches. He helped Real win the MLS Cup in 2009 and make the CONCACAF Champions League Final in 2011.

Two years ago, RSL traded Olave along with forward Fabian Espindola for allocation money. Olave has 120 career matches for the Claret and Cobalt.
