SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Transit Authority will hold public hearings to discuss several proposed changes to local bus service in Salt Lake and Utah counties.
Changes are being proposed to Salt Lake County routes 9, 17, 45, 47, 228, 227, 41 and F546; and Utah County routes 833, 836, 832, 831, 840 and 853.
Salt Lake County hearings will be Tuesday, May 6, at Salt Lake Community College, 4600 S. Redwood Road, Student Center Building, Room 225 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and Wednesday, May 7, at Holladay City Hall, John Holladay Room, 4580 S. 2300 East, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Utah County's hearing will be Wednesday, May 7, at Provo City Library at Academy Square, 550 N. University Ave., Bullock Room No. 309, at 6:30 p.m.
The hearings will be an open house format. Proposed route changes will be posted. UTA staff will be available to answer questions from the public as well as hear feedback from the public concerning proposed changes. The public also can submit public comments to: Hearing Officer, 669 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84101 or email hearingofficer@rideuta.com.
Phone calls and questions about the Utah County proposals may be directed to 801-227-8957. Questions about the Salt Lake County proposals may be directed to 801-237-1959. All comments will become part of the public record if received by 5 p.m. on May 17, 2014.
UTA says it is proposing several service changes dependent upon operational feasibility and financial limitations. The changes are designed to improve bus routes and address other concerns such as low ridership, timing and routing.
Changes will be finalized after the public hearing comment period ends and will be ready to start operating as part of the Aug. 17 change day.
