Rescue personnel and the dogs that help them have been practicing working in avalanches this week. Wasath Backcountry Rescue hosted international rescue dog school coming up from Monday through Thursday in Little Cottonwood Canyon, in which 35 avalanche rescue teams participated. Scenarios included roadside avalanche emergencies and rescue, avalanche emergencies, and training of the rescue dogs to locate missing people under avalanche rubble.
