At least in words, Utah punter Tom Hackett of Australia is now an All-American.
The senior was named first team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association Wednesday, making him a unanimous All-American.
Entering the day, Hackett had been named a first-teamer by four of the five teams the NCAA uses to determine unanimous status (Walter Camp, Associated Press, Football Writers Association of American and Sporting News) but needed the spot on the AFCA team to seal the deal.
Hackett becomes the second player in Ute history to earn such honors. Kicker Louie Sakoda gained the distinction in 2008.
Last week, the affable Hackett won the Ray Guy Award, given to the nation's best punter, for the second year in a row.
In other news Wednesday, Utah freshman Britain Covey was named to the Sporting News' Freshman All-America team.
