It is a tremendous opportunity for me to play at this level and has always been a dream of mine. – Nicholas Paulos

Former Olympus High standout Nicholas Paulos will begin his professional basketball career in Greece. The 6-foot-7 forward signed a contract with AEK Athens and will leave immediately to begin participating in team activities.

“I am very excited to start my professional career playing in Greece,” Paulos said in a press release. “It is a tremendous opportunity for me to play at this level and has always been a dream of mine. Being that my family comes from Greece, there is added value in going back to play there as well.”

Paulos led the Titans in scoring his senior year during the 2009-10 season, averaging 15.2 points per game while hitting 55 3-pointers. Upon graduation he enrolled at New Hampton (Conn.) Prep School before going on to play in 125 games for University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Paulos finished off his final year at UNCG averaging 10.6 points per game and 3.8 rebounds. He also connected on 91 3-point attempts for a 43.3 percent shooting percentage from behind the arc. For his career, Paulos finished with 1,030 career points for UNCG, becoming just the 21st player in school history to finish with over 1,000 career points.
