PROVO — Starting in 2017, the third Friday in March will be an academic holiday for students at Brigham Young University.
Academic Vice President Brent W. Webb announced Wednesday the addition of a class holiday to the academic calendar.
“The new spring holiday was proposed by the Faculty Advisory Committee because they recognized that a day off in the long stretch between President’s Day and the end of winter semester would benefit the students,” Webb said. “I welcomed this proposal.”
The committee represents the faculty at BYU and works closely with the university’s administration to continually improve the academic environment at the university.
The first spring holiday will be on March 17, 2017. With the current winter semester underway, it is too late to adjust the academic calendar to add the holiday this year.
