The LDS Church announced the groundbreaking for another temple in Africa on Friday.
Mormon Newsroom reported that the groundbreaking for the Durban South Africa Temple will take place on April 9, 2016.
President Thomas S. Monson announced the Durban South Africa Temple and the Kinshasa Democratic Republic of Congo Temple during general conference in October 2011. Elder Neil L. Andersen presided at the groundbreaking of the Kinshasa Democratic Republic of Congo Temple earlier this month.
According to Mormon Newsroom, there are more than 55,000 members in South Africa.
