Former Dixie State forward Mark Ogden Jr. has signed a contract to play professional basketball in Luxembourg this fall. Ogden Jr. agreed to terms Tuesday to play for Basket Racing Luxembourg Club in Luxembourg City.
“I believe this club will be a good kickstart for my rookie year and I hope that I can help make a name for myself over there,” Ogden Jr. said in a social media post. “[I] really couldn't have decided on this without my support system. Just want to give thanks to them and the man above us. I'm blessed to be able to have this opportunity, not everyone gets it.”
Ogden Jr. was named first team all-NABC All-West Region and was selected to play in the 2016 NABC Reese's Division II College All-Star Game last March, where he tallied a co-game-high 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting with four rebounds.
Ogden Jr. (6-foot-9; Spring Valley, California/Steele Canyon HS/Grossmont College) was named 2015-16 Pacific West Conference Defender of the Year and first team all-conference. He was also named to the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association West Region second team.
This past season he led the PacWest and finished tied for 12th nationally in rebounding at 10.2 rebounds per game. He also averaged 13.2 points a contest to become the first DSU player in the program's NCAA Division II era to finish a season averaging a double-double.
Ogden Jr. broke DSU's single-season rebounding record with 276 rebounds and posted a league-best 12 double-doubles overall, which was tied for 28th best in the NCAA Division II ranks this past season. He started all 55 games played in his two seasons at Dixie State and wrapped up his DSU career as the school's third-leading rebounder (465) and ninth-leading scorer (665). He is also ranked fourth in career blocks (44), fifth in career free throw percentage (.811) and seventh in career field goal percentage (.501).
