Live coverage of the 186th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made for the most-read stories on DeseretNews.com during the month of April.

General authorities and auxiliary leaders addressed church members during the General Women's Session on March 26 and then again in five other sessions from April 2-3. Deseret News photographers captured hundreds of images in and around the Conference Center and Temple Square during the event.

Other stories relating to the LDS Church that were among the most read included the announcement of 16 new mission presidents and an address by the managing director of LDS Public Affairs at a Utah Valley University conference on Mormonism. Michael Otterson, who gave the keynote address at the 17th annual Mormon Studies Conference, spoke about how the LDS Church is "expanding its boundaries today by building relationships outside the church with interfaith leaders, academics and minority communities," according to the Deseret News article.

"I don't see boundaries in the same way as some commentators, who believe that the church today is simply battening down the hatches, rigidly resisting any change that seems progressive," Otterson said.

Following the announcement of new general authorities at April general conference, Australian media noted the call of Elder Peter F. Meurs, a Fortescue Metals executive who will now serve as a General Authority Seventy.

Other popular stories included a gallery of archived photos of Disneyland that were published in the Deseret News between the 1950s and 1980s, and a profile of former "Dancing With the Stars" professional dancer Chelsie Hightower.
