A documentary is in the works that should be of interest to college football fans in the Beehive State.
A team of students at Oklahoma State University is producing a film called "Family, Faith and Football: The Polynesian Pipeline," which will detail the role of the "three F's" in Polynesian culture.
The project, which doesn't yet have a finish date, will have portions featuring both the University of Utah and BYU football programs.
Recently, a clip recounting the 2013 auto accident in New Mexico that claimed the life of Ute freshman defensive tackle Gaius Vaenuku and injured teammate Salesi Uhatafe was published on YouTube by Matt McGann, one of the students on the OSU team.
"The Boys of Euless" shows the impact the accident, in which two others died and one was injured, had on the community of Euless, Texas, and how the town came together afterward.
Produced by McGann, the video features faculty from Trinity High School, where Vaenuku, Uhatafe and Polo Manukainiu, another who died, had starred on the football field, as well as footage of various community gatherings after the accident.
"The community healed and loved each other, picked each other up with each step of the way, because that's what they would have done," McGann narrates in the clip. "That's what the boys would have done. They would have loved and healed."
