Despite a collegiate career that never really got going, Kendal Thompson is on his way to the NFL.
The former University of Utah quarterback posted on Instagram that he has signed a contract with the Washington Redskins.
Nate Feken of KFOR in Oklahoma City, Thompson's hometown, reported that the deal is for three years and that Thompson will play wide receiver.
After high school, Thompson signed with the University of Oklahoma but only passed for 64 yards and one touchdown with an interception in two games for the Sooners over the course of three seasons (2011-2013) before transferring to Salt Lake City.
Thompson could never overtake Travis Wilson as the Utes' primary starter at signal caller, appearing in 11 games total during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Of those, he started three times.
At Utah's Pro Day in the spring, Thompson suited up at wide receiver.
