Social media posts with a connection to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members last week highlighted announcements of LDS musician collaborations, comedians hosting a live event and a famous basketball player visiting Brigham Young University-Hawaii. Social media accounts for LDS Church leaders shared testimonies of Jesus Christ and a new video about the sacrament.
Brigham Young University’s male a capella group, Vocal Point, posted a picture on Instagram to announce that their “dream of being Gladys Knight’s ‘Pips’ is finally coming true!! You won’t want to miss the BYU Homecoming Spectacular this year,” according to the post.
The BYU Homecoming Spectacular will also feature singers Peter Hollens, Lexi Mae Walker and BYU Noteworthy. According to a YouTube video posted by BYU Alumni, the BYU Young Ambassadors, the Cougarettes, Theatre Ballet, Synthesis and members of the Men’s and Women’s Choruses will also be performing.
Another announcement of an LDS musician collaboration came from the Meridian Press. David Archuleta, Marie Osmond and Alex Boye will be joining the Nashville Tribute Band to perform 'Redeemer,' a tribute to Jesus Christ. According to a tweet from the Meridian Press, the free concert will be this Saturday.
Archuleta posted a picture on Instagram with Jason Deere and Diamond Rio's Dan Truman, two of the members of the Nashville Tribute Band, as well as Marie Osmond and Alex Boye who will be performing at the tribute concert."It's about coming together from different walks of life and different faiths to be united to honor our Redeemer," he wrote.
Over the July Fourth weekend, NBA MVP Stephen Curry hosted a basketball camp at BYU-Hawaii, where he surprised a few “lucky campers” while they were in their dorms for the night.

According to a Facebook post about the announcement, those who tune in will get a backstage tour through the live video feed.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir released a YouTube video, wishing their family members a happy Independence Day. The Choir and Orchestra on Temple Square are currently on tour in Europe.
The LDS Church released a video about the process of making the small sacrament cups used each Sunday in LDS meetinghouses throughout the world. The post on the LDS Church’s Facebook page quotes Matthew 26:26-37: “Jesus took bread, and blessed it. … And he took the cup, and gave thanks.” The post includes the hashtag #HisDay.
