Editor's note: In anticipation of the 121st college football season in Utah, DeseretNews.com writer Jay Yeomans is ranking the 50 greatest Division I college football players of all time from the state of Utah. We're counting down the 50 days until Sept. 1 when Southern Utah at Utah and Weber State at Utah State kick off at 6 p.m. Rankings are based on what the player did during his college career.

27. Mohammed Elewonibi, BYU, guard (1988-89)

Although he spent just two seasons on the field at BYU, Elewonibi was one of the most impactful linemen the Cougars have ever had.

After starting just one game as a junior, he stepped up as a senior in 1989 and turned in a legendary season. He was a First-Team All-WAC performer, and a consensus First-Team All-American. He also became the first Cougar offensive lineman, and just the second player in BYU history, to win the Outland Trophy as the best interior lineman in the nation.
