Failure is synonymous with Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox went 86 years without winning a World Series, after all. So it’s no surprise that one Sox fan failed miserably in his wedding proposal this week.

As The Washington Post reported, a man proposed to his girlfriend on the Jumbotron at the Boston ballpark. Journalist Pete Abraham said it went “awry, as the crowd groaned and chanted “She said no!” right after the proposal.

Media members tweeted out the scene.

Details emerged and it painted a worse picture. Apparently the couple fought before the proposal, too.
