SALT LAKE CITY — Utah senior guard Justin Bibbins was named Pac-12 Player of the Week Monday, becoming the first Ute men’s basketball player to take home the award since Jakob Poeltl did so on Feb. 22, 2016.

Bibbins was key in Utah victories over Washington and Washington State, recording double-doubles in back-to-back games, a first for a Ute this season.

He dropped 20 points on 4-of-9 shooting against the Huskies, and also grabbed 10 rebounds, as Utah claimed the 70-62 victory.

Later in the week he helped Utah blitz the Cougars, 82-69, with 13 points and a season-high 12 assists.

Bibbins is averaging 14.2 points per game this season, tying him for 18th-best in the conference. He is also among the Conference of Champions’ finest in assists (tied for third with 5.1 assists per game) and 3-pointers made (tied for second with 2.7 canned per game).

The award is just the eighth such won by a Ute in program history (since joining the Pac-12) as well as a first for Bibbins.
