Elite quarterback Tanner McKee is headed to Stanford.

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the top uncommitted signal caller in the country announced on ESPNU Wednesday morning that he will join the Cardinal after serving an LDS mission.

The 6-foot-6, 219-pound McKee held scholarship offers from around the country and was still considering Texas A&M, Texas, Alabama, Washington and BYU at the end, in addition to Stanford.

Before making his announcement on national television, McKee thanked the schools recruiting him for respecting his decision to serve a mission and said he anticipates being a better player upon his return.

ESPN analyst Rod Gilmore noted that Stanford is a good fit for the Corona, California native, particularly given the program's recent pipeline of LDS players (defensive coordinator Lance Anderson is also LDS).
