SALT LAKE CITY — One of the state's most recognizable sports apparel brand is under new ownership.
The Larry H. Miller Group of Companies Friday announced an agreement to sell Fanzz, one of the nation’s largest licensed sports apparel and merchandise retailers, to Fanzz Gear Inc., an affiliate of Ames Watson Capital LCC.
Terms of the private purchase were not disclosed. The deal is effective immediately, a news release stated.
Under the agreement, Fanzz Gear Inc. will also acquire the trademark to the Fanzz name, though Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment will continue to own and operate the Utah Jazz Team Store at Vivint Smart Home Arena and the Salt Lake Bees Team Shop at Smith’s Ballpark.
Based in Salt Lake City, Fanzz launched operations in 1987 and over the years expanded to 120 store locations in 22 states, in addition to online sales.
