SALT LAKE CITY — A 57-year-old woman who apparently stumbled on a platform and was struck by a train as it was pulling in has died of her injuries.

Marie Gay Cardwell had been prone to seizures recently and had been known to fall, said Utah Transit Authority spokesman Carl Arky.

Authorities say the accident happened about 5 p.m. in Salt Lake City at the TRAX station at 400 South and 900 East. Surveillance video reviewed by police appears to show the woman stumbling before being struck by a train.
