LA Galaxy selected former Orem High soccer player Emil Cuello in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft on Thursday.

The Galaxy selected him No. 19 overall, two picks after Real Salt Lake picked Sam Brown. A longtime resident of Orem, the midfielder scored 23 goals during his four seasons with the Orem Tigers.

Cuello accepted a scholarship to SMU where he earned several accolades in his four years including Most Outstanding Offensive Player by the American Athletic Conference. He scored 12 goals and dished out 17 assists in 72 games with the Mustangs.
