The Hollywood Foreign Press Association released their list of annual Golden Globe nominees on Monday, leaving many actors and actresses grateful for the roles they have gotten to play.
To celebrate, many nominees posted their gratitude on social media, and some were even able to share their joy with friends also nominated.
Among the nominees is Roman Griffin Davis, who was nominated for his role in “Jojo Rabbit,” a satire about World War II directed by Taika Waititi, whose past directing credits include “Thor: Ragnarok.”
“I am so incredibly amazed and grateful and honored and excited. Thank you so much to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” Davis posted on Instagram. “Congratulations Taika and Carthew for Best Picture. Congrats to everyone. And thank you Fox Searchlight for helping me miss more school!”
Waititi also expressed his gratitude on Instagram after “Jojo Rabbit” was nominated for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
“My musical or comedy is nominated for a (Golden Globe)! Congrats to all involved but I’m most proud of my little friend, Roman Griffin Davis, on his best actor nomination!” Waititi said.
He also joked about his disappointment that the Golden Globes still lacks an award for the best font on a poster.
Actor Taron Egerton, who was nominated for his role as Elton John in “Rocketman,” called his nomination “the stuff dreams are made of.”
Actor Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Miriam Maisel in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” was nominated for the third time and thanked the HFPA for “inviting (them) back to the party.”
More nominated celebrities included the group of friends Saoirse Ronan (“Little Women”), Beanie Feldstein (“Booksmart”), Kaitlyn Dever (“Unbelievable”) and Ben Platt (“The Politician”).
While Platt jokingly thanked the HFPA for placing his name in a Bill Hader/Paul Rudd sandwich, Feldstein expressed her gratitude for being nominated alongside so many of her friends.
“What a ridiculously surreal, special morning,” Feldstein said. “Thank you to the HFPA for this beautiful nomination amongst the most extraordinary women. And to get to be there with my partner on this journey, (Kaitlyn Dever), my life partner, (Ben Platt) and my Lady Bird is too much for my heart.”
The 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air Jan. 5, 2020, and will be hosted by Ricky Gervais.
