Utahns rung in the new year by celebrating basketball victories, helping those in need and hitting the slopes.

The first month of 2019 was a busy one, with new lawmakers taking office, a long government shutdown, the dedication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Rome Italy Temple and several tragic fires.
