The fifth episode of season 2 of “The Mandalorian” featured a number of callbacks to pockets of “Star Wars” lore, including a specific “The Clone Wars” storyline.
Who is Morgan Elsbeth?
In the episode, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu (Baby Yoda) team up with Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) to take on Morgan Elsbeth, the leader of the city Calodan on the planet Corvus.
We learn a little about Elsbeth from Ahsoka, who says: “Morgan Elsbeth. During the Clone Wars, her people were massacred.”
This might seem like a passing moment but it’s actually a deep cut from “The Clone Wars.”
Does Morgan Elsbeth appear in ‘The Clone Wars’ show?
We don’t know specifically if she appears there. But internet sleuths have pointed out that the story of Elsbeth’s people being massacred does appear in the series.
The current theory suggests Elsbeth is a member of the Ming Po, a tribe that Ahsoka saw massacred by the Death Watch — a Mandalorian terrorist group — in season 4 of the show.
The massacre happens in episode 6 of season 4, titled “A Friend in Need.” It features Bo-Katan as well, who made her live-action debut in “The Mandalorian” earlier this season.
Ahsoka defended the Ming Po villagers before she was captured by the Mandalorian warriors, where she was later almost executed.
