“Star Wars” actor Sam Witwer denied a rumor that he made a cameo appearance in the season 2 premiere of “The Mandalorian.”

What happened:

Actor Josh Moreno posted a photo on social media from an IGN article that claimed Witwer, who voices Darth Maul in the animated “Star Wars” show, appeared in “The Mandalorian.”

Moreno wrote: “When the Star Wars fandom thinks you’re @SamWitwer but you’re actually just villager # 4 @IGN”

Witwer then responded in a reply: “I wish IGN would, ya know, do their due diligence and research that my hair isn’t blonde... But hey.”

Darth Maul rumored to appear

“The Mandalorian” has been rumored to bring in older “Star Wars” characters in the next seasons, especially as the story expands in a “Game of Thrones” style.

“Star Wars: Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels” characters have already been rumored to appear. Ahsoka Tano is the biggest of the bunch to be rumored to have a role on “Mandalorian.”

That said, there was some speculation that Darth Maul (who would be dead at this point in the timeline) would appear in the show. Witwer, who voiced Maul in “Clone Wars” and “Rebels,” and Ray Park, who played the character in “The Phantom Menace,” both hinted at his inclusion in the new season in various social media posts, according to Forbes. There’s a chance that he could appear in a flashback, especially when it comes to the darksaber.
