PROVO — Another BYU defensive player is reportedly entering the transfer portal.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Alex Miskela, a 6-foot-1, 235-pounder from Orange County, California, is exploring his options elsewhere, according to the 247 Transfer Portal Twitter account.

Miskela signed with the Cougars in 2018 but has never played. He redshirted in 2019. During the spring, he was seeing time at defensive end.

BYU is deep at the linebacker position, which includes Isaiah Kaufusi, Chaz Ah You, Payton Wilgar, Kavika Fonua, Keenan Pili, Ben Bywater and Drew Jensen.

Miskela is the third BYU defensive player to enter the transfer portal since March, along with defensive lineman Devin Kaufusi, who signed with Utah, and defensive lineman Austin Chambers.

While he was in high school, Miskela transferred from St. John Bosco to Los Alamitos for his senior season.
