On Monday, Utah Utes head football coach Kyle Whittingham said during his weekly press conference that he expected to get a bunch of commits in the next few weeks in advance of the annual early signing period starting on Dec. 15.

On Tuesday, a commit came, as Alabama receiver Ryan Peppins announced his pledge to the Utes via Instagram.

Listed by 247 Sports at 5-foot-8 and 168 pounds, Peppins could be fairly classified as an under the radar prospect, especially at the Power Five level.

He is not ranked by 247 Sports, and although he was previously committed to Western Kentucky, he only holds a few scholarship offers from Group of Five schools, none from Power Five programs other than Utah.

Peppins is the ninth player currently committed to the Utes after Texas prospect Jeffrey Ugo announced earlier Tuesday that he has decommitted.
