In the BYU women’s basketball team’s 101-74 walloping of Utah State Tuesday at the Marriott Center, coach Jeff Judkins was held out as a precautionary measure while awaiting a COVID-19 test result.

Assistant coach Lee Cummard assumed head coaching duties for the game.

After the win, the team was leaving for St. Petersburg, Florida, for a two-game tournament, starting Thursday against Florida State.

The school released a statement about Judkins’ situation.

“BYU women’s basketball head coach Jeff Judkins did not make the trip to the St. Pete Showcase today. Coach Judkins tested positive for COVID-19 and will stay home to quarantine. The remainder of the team has been tested and it’s been determined by BYU’s sports medicine staff that they are safe to travel with no other positive tests in the team travel party. Assistant coach Lee Cummard will assume head coaching duties while Coach Judkins is in quarantine.”

The Cougars have posted a 6-0 record this season.
