Get ready for some Marvel theories — a new Marvel comic book character who has not been seen will soon make his or her debut in the upcoming episode of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” according to reports.
‘Surprise character’ cameo?
SlashFilm reports that a “surprise character” will make a cameo appearance in Episode 5 of the “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
- The “surprise character is not one that we’ve seen in the MCU before and not one who is primed to appear in an upcoming film,” according to SlashFilm.
- The character is reportedly “an existing Marvel Comics character who is played by a well-known performer,” SlashFilm reports.
SlashFilm’s editor-in-chief Peter Scieretta said in the website’s recent podcast episode that the character will be completely new for the MCU, according to ComicBook.com.
- “It’s not a character that’s from the Marvel movies,” he said. “It’s a big Marvel character, and it’s a big actor who hasn’t been named in the series ... this is someone we didn’t know was going to be in the series and is an award-winning actor/actress.”
Any theories?
There aren’t any major theories out there right now about who will make the cameo appearance. It’s possible the cameo will be The Power Broker, a mysterious figure we’ve only heard about on the show but never seen. There has been some rumblings that The Power Broker is the Spider-Man villain Kingpin, who appeared in the old Netflix Marvel shows. Those shows are not deemed part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so an appearance in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” would be the first time the character showed up in the MCU.
Before we get crazy with theories, let’s remember that Paul Bettany, who plays the character Vision, hyped up a cameo appearance of a special actor on “WandaVision,” saying the actor was someone Bettany wanted to work with for a long time. That actor turned out to be ... Paul Bettany.
So could this ongoing rumor of a cameo appearance in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” actually be Sam Wilson as Captain America? Yes, Sam Wilson has appeared in the MCU, and Captain America has appeared, too. But Sam Wilson as Captain America has never happened in the MCU, despite occurring in the comic books.
Guess we will have to wait and see. But surely some theories and predictions will start to pop up soon.
