“When Calls the Heart” may have set up Lori Loughlin’s return to the show in a subtle scene that aired in the show’s latest episode.

The latest ‘When Calls the Heart’ episode

In the latest episode of “When Calls the Heart,” there was a scene where Ned starts to feel cold feet before his wedding. He talks to his friend and best man, named Gowen, about the wedding. Gowen then talks about his biggest regret, TV Show Ace reports.

During this scene, Gowen reveals something major: He has been communicating with Abigail Stanton, who was played by Lori Loughlin on the show before she was fired due to the college admissions scandal.

  • When Loughlin exited the show, Stanton was written off, with characters saying she traveled back East to tend to her ill mother.

Per TV Show Ace, Gowen then tells Ned: “When I sit at my desk and I look out my window across at the cafe and I see her name, I’ve got nothing but regret.”

  • So, yet again, we have a teaser for Lori Loughlin’s return.

More hints at Lori Loughlin’s return

There have been rumors of Loughlin returning to “When Calls the Heart” since February, when headlines from Us Weekly magazine and PopCulture brought it up. There is some evidence to support the theory, including that Loughlin has been planning to return to acting and Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton approved Loughlin’s request to receive a passport, as I wrote for the Deseret News.

‘When Calls the Heart’ fans wanted Lori Loughlin’s character back during a recent episode. Here’s why

More recently, “When Calls the Heart” star Erin Krakow said she supports Loughlin returning to the show.

  • “Well, I sure hope so,” Krakow said. “Real life Abigail is one of my dearest friends. Her name still hangs on a sign above the cafe. She will always be an incredibly important part of ‘When Calls the Heart.’ I would love to see her character back in Hope Valley again. We’ve got a lot more exciting stories that we could tell with her.”

Krakow also told Good Housekeeping that Loughlin’s return would be welcomed.

  • “I love Lori and would be so happy to see her back in Hope Valley sooner than later. She’s obviously always in my heart, so that would bring me a lot of joy.”
