“Obi-Wan Kenobi” series star Ewan McGregor recently teased that the new “Star Wars” spinoff show will have a number of lightsaber battles.

McGregor told The Hollywood Reporter that he recently got the COVID-19 vaccine and that he had to cancel his “lightsaber training” to deal with the side effects.

  • “For months, we’ve been doing these monster, two-and-a-half-hour sessions of sword fights and hand-to-hand stuff,” he said.

Why it matters for ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

According to ComicBook.com, McGregor’s comments heavily imply that Obi-Wan will be mixing it up with a lightsaber again during his years on Tattooine — which were always believed to be calm and uneventful.

  • But the hint at intensity might “mean that Kenobi’s isolation didn’t mean he stayed out of fights, or it could mean that the new series will feature flashbacks to when the Jedi was more actively taking part in the Clone Wars,” per ComicBook.com.

McGregor said he is excited to return to “Star Wars” and appear again as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

  • “I’m really excited about it,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “Maybe more so than the first ones, because I’m older — I just turned 50 — and I’m just in a much better place.”
