Rylan Jones, who’s played for the University of Utah the past two seasons, has entered the NCAA transfer portal, the Deseret News confirmed Friday.
Jones started 43 of his 45 career games at Utah and averaged 7.6 points, 4.3 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game.
After Jones averaged 9.6 points, 4.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game as a freshman in 2019-20, those numbers dipped during his sophomore season, when Jones missed eight games with a shoulder injury.
His father, Chris Jones, was the Utah director of basketball operations under Larry Krystkowiak, who was fired after the 2020-21 season and replaced by Craig Smith, the former Utah State coach.
Ryan Jones was a four-star prospect coming out of a decorated high school career at Olympus. He was named the Deseret News’ Mr. Basketball in 2018.
