Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Episode 1 of “Loki.”

The first episode of “Loki” may feature a rather surprising cameo that could have major Marvel Cinematic Universe consequences.

Peggy Carter ‘Loki’ rumor, explained

The “Loki” premiere begins with the Time Variance Authority, led by Hunter B15, arresting Loki, who has escaped from his timeline by grabbing the Tesseract (as seen in “Avengers: Endgame”). Naturally, Loki tries to break out of the TVA.

When Loki escapes for a brief moment, he runs through the halls of the TVA to find his way out. When he does, a TVA door in the background opens up and out steps two people. One of them is likely Hunter B15, the TVA officer who arrested Loki. But Hunter B15 has someone with them — a woman with short brown hair.

  • “Despite not seeing her face, fans have already speculated that this may be none other than Peggy Carter,” according to Digital Spy.

Who is Peggy Carter?

Peggy Carter — for those who don’t know — was the long-lost love of Steve Rogers, according to the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki. She and Rogers were soulmates as seen in “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

  • But Rogers was frozen before the couple could really be together. When Rogers woke up in modern times, Peggy Carter — who was an agent for the SHIELD agency — had passed away.
  • But, at the end of “Avengers: Endgame,” Rogers travels back in time to spend time with Peggy Carter. The final shot of “Endgame” shows Rogers and Carter together.

Why is Peggy Carter at the TVA?

We don’t know. We’re actually not even 100% sure that the person seen in the TVA is Peggy Carter or not. If it is, this could have major implications for the MCU. This would mean that Peggy messed with the timeline in her own right.

  • “While this could indicate that Peggy has been off committing crimes against the timeline, Marvel does like a good tease — and it may just be someone similar-looking,” according to Digital Spy.
