Someone recently shared a design for an NBA 2K22 cover with Utah Jazz Donovan Mitchell — and it’s too good not to share.

The cover, which you can see below, shows Mitchell in a white Utah Jazz jersey driving for a layup. In the background, you can see Mitchell wearing a darker Utah Jazz jersey — it looks like the purple retro one.

The poster — which comes from artist axndo is truly fire. Check it out below.

The Mitchell cover comes as speculation ramps up about a potential cover athlete for the next NBA 2K video game. NBA 2K did not respond to a request for comment about any cover athletes when I asked them about it last week.

Multiple reports earlier in June suggested that Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic would be the cover athlete for the game. The cover first appeared on the Instant Gaming website before it was deleted.

  • “While obviously just art at this point, it’s fair to assume Luka Doncic is a real possibility for the cover,” according to Mavs Moneyball, the SB Nation blog for the Dallas Mavericks.

Per Sports Illustrated, there’s been speculation that former Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki will be the cover star for the Legends edition of NBA2K22, which offers more content for a higher price.

NBA 2K21 had three cover athletes — Damian Lillard on the normal version, Zion Williamson on the PS5/Xbox Series X version and the late Kobe Bryant on the legends version, as I explained for the Deseret News.
