Warning: This article contains spoilers for the “Loki” Season 1 finale.
The “Loki” season finale did something that all season finales do — it answered questions, while also raising more questions to answer down the road.
The finale — titled “For All Time. Always” — shows us what happens when Loki and Sylvie finally reach the Citadel at the End of Time and find out the truth of the Time Variance Authority and the Sacred Timeline.
But there are so many questions we still need answered. In fact, there are so many unanswered questions that will have to be explored in future projects — otherwise, this wouldn’t be the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Here are some of the questions we’re still wondering after the finale.
When will He Who Remains return?
He Who Remains debuted in the “Loki” season finale, revealing himself to be the leader of the Time Variance Authority and the creator of the Time Keepers. He offered Loki and Sylvie the chance to take over his throne. But instead, Sylvie chose to kill him and unleash the multiverse. He Who Remains said evil versions of him — his variants — would return to try to conquer all. So will we see him again? Reports suggest he will return in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” since Jonathan Majors (who plays He Who Remains in “Loki”) is slated for a role in that film. But will see him anytime sooner than that? We’ll have to see.
Is Loki stuck in TVA forever?
The final scene in “Loki” shows Loki returning to the Time Variance Authority offices, where he meets a version of Mobius and Hunter B-15 who have never met him. Is this Loki’s future? Will he forever be stuck inside of the TVA, searching for a way out? Will he ever get out of the TVA and return to Earth? These are questions that need an immediate follow-up when the show returns.
Will we see original Mobius or Hunter B-15 again?
Before Loki finds Agent Mobius and Hunter B-15, we see the original versions of Agent Mobius and Hunter B-15 watching the multiverse grow. They agree there’s no going back from the multiverse. Will we ever see this version of those characters again? Or are they lost to the timeline of history? It would be fascinating to see Loki interact with a new Mobius who never heard of him. But the original Mobius was such a kind, caring individual. It’d be nice to meet him again down the road.
What happens to Sylvie?
OK. Sylvie ended up killing He Who Remains, which led to the creation of the multiverse. With no one to watch over the different timelines, now a number of timelines will grow. So what will happen with Sylvie? Will she search through different timelines for Loki? Will she make her way through the universe in Season 2? It will be fascinating to see what Sylvie does next.
How does this impact other Marvel stories?
We’ll definitely see answers to this play out in future projects. But how will the multiverse impact the stories of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” or the ending of “Black Widow” and “WandaVision”? We can guess “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” will touch on the subject. But there are so many Marvel projects to come. Will any of them deal with this multiverse?
Did Judge Renslayer know about He Who Remains?
In the Marvel comics, Judge Renslayer and Kang the Conquerer are romantic love interests. But on this show, Renslayer appears to not know anything about He Who Remains. During the episode, Miss Minutes tells Renslayer that “he” wants something done. But Renslayer has no clue who “he” is — a sign that there couldn’t possibly be a relationship there ... right? Should we believe her? Or was she adding another layer of lies onto the lies she was already dealing with?
How much did Miss Minutes know?
Miss Minutes seemed like the Mr. DNA from “Jurassic Park” — a character meant to explain the complicated aspects of the show. But in the season finale, Miss Minutes appears to be something of a guardian for He Who Remains. She offers Loki and Sylvie a deal from He Who Remains as well, a sign that the two have long worked together. So — does this mean that she knows more than she let on? Or is she only a puppet to be used by others?
Will Mobius ever get his Jet Ski?
I mean, come on. How did Agent Mobius not get to ride a Jet Ski?
