Warning: This article contains mild spoilers for “Space Jam: A New Legacy.”
Michael Jordan in ‘Space Jam’
The original “Space Jam” focused on Michael J. Jordan, the Chicago Bulls NBA star who won six championship rings in six NBA Finals attempts. He is heralded as one of the greatest NBA players of all time.
In “Space Jam,” Jordan teams up with the Looney Tunes to take on the Monstars, a team of gooney aliens who stole powers from NBA stars Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Muggsy Bogues, Larry Johnson and Shawn Bradley.
After a hard-fought battle, Jordan and the Tune Squad defeat the Monstars and restore order to the Looney Tunes’ lives.
Does Michael Jordan appear in ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ with LeBron James?
Yes, sort of.
In the new film, LeBron loses his son to the Warner Bros. server-verse — basically where all of Warner Bros.’ properties live. To get back his son, he has to defeat the multiverse's king AI-G Rhythm (Don Cheadle) in a basketball game. So LeBron ends up teaming with the Looney Tunes, according to USA Today.
During halftime of the game, as the Tune Squad is faced with a huge deficit in the score, the Looney Tunes end up recruiting a star to help them, claiming it to be Michael Jordan. It turns out to be actor Michael B. Jordan, who starred in the new “Creed” movies and as Kilmonger in “Black Panther.”
