Warning: This article contains spoilers for “Loki” Episode 4 — “The Nexus Event.”
“Loki” writer and producer Eric Martin said the leaders of Marvel Studios were a little too concerned with the major twist at the end of “Loki” Episode 4.
“Loki” Episode 4 twist, explained
“Loki” Episode 4 — titled “The Nexus Event” — ended with a shocking moment where the Time Variance Authority and Judge Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) arrest Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). Then, Renslayer brings Loki and Sylvie before the Time Keepers.
- After a short battle, Loki and Sylvie break free from the TVA and attack the Time Keepers, who reveal themselves to be mindless androids.
- Then, Renslayer kills Loki.
Marvel concerned over Time Keepers, TVA shift
Martin said in a series of tweets that Marvel had some worries about the revelation about the Time Keepers.
- “We took some HUGE swings this episode. Marvel definitely had some concerns that we were moving too quickly by taking the Timekeepers off the board.
- “But they saw where we were going and trusted us. So...we got to make a total barn burner with this episode.”
What’s next?
The thing is, “Loki” Episode 4 had a post-credits scene where Loki wakes up after he thought he had died. Instead, he wakes up to find Kid Loki, Old Man Loki, a Loki with a hammer and a crocodile Loki, who promised they could save Loki’s life, as I explained for the Deseret News.
It’s no shock, then, that more surprises are on the way.
“Loki” Episode 5 will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, July 7.
