Friday night, Fox News discussed the United Nations’ standing toward Hamas, and CNN spoke to Israel Defense Forces on active duty.
Fox News — The U.N. has not labeled Hamas a terrorist group
“The U.N. is so out of touch with reality,” Sean Hannity said, “that they refuse to label Hamas or Hezbollah terrorist organizations, which they are. ... But apparently, Iran-backed militants that want to wipe Israel off the map, some of the worst atrocities we’ve ever seen, they get a free pass.”
On “Hannity” Friday night, former Israeli Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., joined Hannity to discuss the issue.
Hannity asked Issa why it is that America funds the United Nations when it has “historically been antisemitic and anti-American.”
“The basic existence of the U.N., good idea. The various pockets we continue to pay, ridiculous,” Issa said.
Danon said that the attacks by Hamas are atrocities not seen since the Holocaust and that “with all due respect to the U.N., Sean, we don’t really care about the U.N. right now. We care about defeating the enemy, and we will do it.”
CNN — Israel Defense Forces in Gaza
CNN’s Nic Robertson spoke to soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces, or IDF, and what their plan of action is against Gaza on “Anderson Cooper 360.”
“We expect to go to war,” Givati Brigade Cmdr. Maj. Ofek told Robertson. “We expect to destroy the terrorist organization Hamas, kill its government, and kill every last terrorist. That’s what we plan to do, and that’s how it will be.”
According to Robertson, in 2014, the IDF attempted to destroy Hamas leadership.
“In many ways, Israel’s actions are playing out just as they have in the past. And in Gaza, the civilian death toll, according to Palestinian health officials, is already higher than in 2014,” he added.
This is because IDF wants the civilians in Gaza to leave, but Hamas has told them to stay, Robertson said.
Although the IDF will do everything it can to avoid civilian death, Ofek said it won't be easy.
Ofek added, “We’re concerned with overthrowing the Hamas regime and killing the terrorists who are currently in Gaza. If it will be difficult, it will be difficult, not easy.”
