At the age of 82, Sister Kathleen Johnson Eyring, wife of President Henry B. Eyring, died on Oct. 15, 2023, from a long-term illness. President Eyring, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, expressed his great gratitude and hope for the future on social media.

“I am humbled and grateful for each of you who have offered prayers, shared memories, and provided service to me and my family in the days since our beloved Kathleen passed onto the other side of the veil,” he wrote in an X, formally known as Twitter, post.

He described “intense emotions” that he felt in the days following his wife’s death, but he said, “Despite the moments of sadness, I cannot help but also feel hope for the future.”

At Sister Eyring’s funeral, President Russell M. Nelson spoke of the sealing power of the temple that will bind President and Sister Eyring beyond the grave. He said that the ordinance conducted on July 27, 1972, “set in motion a family that will thrive throughout eternity.”

In the post, President Eyring shared his belief that he will see Sister Eyring again.
