What started with a single handmade blanket created by a mother for her daughter has made its way to one of the most iconic venues in American sports. Minky Couture, the Utah-based creator of the original luxury hugs blanket, has been named the Official Blanket of the Boston Red Sox — uniting two organizations built on community, tradition, and an unwavering connection to their fans.

The partnership, announced August 11, 2026, marks another milestone in professional sports for a company whose story begins not in a boardroom, but in a hospital room.

“We are incredibly honored to partner with the Boston Red Sox organization,” said Sandi Hendry, Founder and CEO of Minky Couture. “The Red Sox are such an iconic franchise with an unmatched fan base and culture. We are excited to bring the comfort and luxury of Minky Couture to Red Sox fans and create memorable experiences together.”

Hendry founded Minky Couture in 2009 after her daughter became seriously ill and spent an extended period in the hospital. Wanting to give her something soft and comforting during a frightening experience, Hendry discovered a relatively new fabric called “minky” and had a blanket handmade. A mother simply saw a need: her daughter was going through a difficult time, and she wanted to give her something that would bring comfort. When Sandi created the first blanket, she thought, “This small act of love could become the beginning of something extraordinary.” That simple act became the foundation for a company that helped create an entirely new category of luxury comfort blankets.

Today, Minky Couture is a nationally recognized brand with more than one million Instagram followers, over 300 employees, and customers who take their blankets everywhere — road trips, movie theaters, sporting events, and family gatherings. The blankets have become far more than a household item; they are a familiar symbol of comfort and connection.

To celebrate the new partnership, members of the Minky Couture team traveled to Boston for the official signing and attended games at historic Fenway Park. But one of the most meaningful moments happened away from the field. Working alongside the Red Sox Foundation, the company distributed 500 blankets to people in the Boston community, a gesture that reflects a much longer history of giving for the brand.

Through its charitable initiative, Heart of Minky, Minky Couture has donated hundreds of thousands of blankets to NICUs, hospitals, charitable organizations, and families in need. That commitment to giving isn’t a side project. It is central to the company’s identity, rooted in the same hospital experience that inspired Hendry to create the very first blanket.

The Red Sox partnership is a natural fit. Fenway Park is woven into the identity of New England, and generations of families have built traditions around the team. As the Official Blanket of the Boston Red Sox, Minky Couture will be featured at Red Sox events, community activations, and fan experiences throughout the season, with exclusive collaborations and promotions planned for fans.

The deal also expands Minky Couture’s growing footprint in professional sports, joining partnerships with the Dallas Cowboys, Disney, Dude Perfect, and World of Warcraft. Each brings something different. The Red Sox bring something distinctly Boston — a community that doesn’t just watch baseball but lives it.

For Hendry, standing inside Fenway Park represents a remarkable journey. The scale has changed considerably since 2009. The idea behind it really hasn’t. At its core, Minky Couture is still about something simple: comfort, connection, generosity, and the belief that sometimes a blanket can mean far more than just warmth.
