“And in the morning, we’re making waffles.”
At least that’s what select Chick-fil-A locations in Baltimore and San Antonio will be doing starting Dec. 1, as the chain tests out a brand-new Chicken and Waffles Sandwich, complete with bacon and a side of maple syrup and available all day long.
A Facebook post from a restaurant in Westminster, Maryland, on Nov. 4 detailed the sandwich comes with “crispy chicken stacked between warm maple waffles, all with a touch of smoked bacon.”
The testing window runs from Dec. 1 through Jan. 24, or until supplies run out, which might happen fast.
According to an email from Chick-fil-A to USA Today, select Baltimore locations will test both the Chicken and Waffles Breakfast Sandwich and a Chicken and Waffles Sandwich, while select San Antonio spots will test the breakfast version only.
The breakfast sandwich is said to be a smaller version of the regular waffle sandwich, served until 10:30 a.m.
This test marks Chick-fil-A’s latest experiment in expanding its menu beyond the classics. The chain often uses select markets to trial new items before considering rolling the item out nationally, like what was done with the Cauliflower Sandwich in 2023.
The internet reacts
Social media is already filled with opinions. Some users are begging for the new item to go nationwide, expressing jealousy toward those in Baltimore and San Antonio. One user wrote, “it would be my pleasure if they brought this to PA.”
One user joked, “I will gladly take out a 50-year mortgage on this.”
Another mused, “I will be moving to Baltimore or San Antonio on Dec 1st”
While others could care less about the sweet-and-savory combo and just want the chain to be open on Sundays.
The holiday menu returns
The new waffle creation lands just as Chick-fil-A brings back its holiday favorites.
The chain’s seasonal menu features the return of Chicken Tortilla Soup and a 30-piece Nugget meal, and includes an array of peppermint flavored treats, including Peppermint Iced Coffee, Peppermint Chip Frosted Coffee, Peppermint Chip Milkshake and Icedream with Peppermint Bark Chips.
